Whew, what a magical adventure this project has been! We are in the planning phase for a special event in the spring for Eat At State, it is going to be a Harry Potter themed dinner taking place in Landon Dining Hall. Ever since it was reopened, every person who comes instead remarks how much it looks and feels like Hogwarts, so we thought it was high time we gave those diehard HP fans a night to remember.
In my Type II class, we have been using Photoshop to design our typefaces and I am delight to say I really do feel like I have a super solid handle of the program now. Not only do I feel like I know a ton of shortcuts and tricks, but I don't feel like I am getting tripped up on little things anymore. Yay. So with all this new gusto for Photoshop, I thought I'd challenge myself to create a poster of Landon, but turned into the Great Hall of Hogwarts. Have the floating candles, the headmasters table, some favorite characters, do the typography like the posters and the books, the whole nine yards.
I have to say, I am really pleased with the results! After many hours of tutorials, masking and more masking, it is coming along very well. The type in the top still needs some work and I am waiting on event copy, but still, I think it looks pretty realistic. And the best part is that my boss loves it! Always happy to make the client happy.
